The Added to Database event will add the contact to the Journey funnel when that contact is added to the target database. See Fig 1 below.

A newly added contact will be added to the Journey funnel whether added to the database by:

• CSV import
• API call
• Manually added via GUI

Please note, to also add a contact via subscription form submission, you would need to add the Event: Submitted a Form, and make sure the logical operator rule is set to "Or" (default value). See Fig 2 below.
